Turn your your Keyboard Scroll Lock and Num Lock LEDs into Network Activity Indicators

Turn your your Keyboard Scroll Lock and Num Lock LEDs into Network Activity Indicators

Maybe some of you know, that every network card has indicator lights that help you monitor your network activity and in some cases those lights may also be useful for detecting network problems. Unfortunately, the network card is located at the rear of the computer, making monitoring of these indicators a little uncomfortable, and if your computer is located on the inaccessible location (e.g. under the desk) it becomes almost impossible. However, there is a small program, that can help in the situation described above. It’s called Network Lights and  turns your keyboard Scroll Lock and Num Lock LEDs into a Network activity indicators. The program is pretty small and doesn’t require an installation. When you start the program it appears immediately in your system tray and your keyboards Scroll Lock and Num Lock LEDs begin to act just like network card LEDs.

With right click on the program icon you have access to some settings like the blink rate of the keyboard LEDs and assigning individual LEDs to both incoming and outgoing packets.
